Lillie's Review of Cool!

I like the book Cool because it's a heart warming book about a boy in coma after a terrible car accident everybody tries as hard as they can too try and get Robbie back to life even star football Chelsea player Zola tries!

I give Cool a 9/10 because it's not like Anne Frank, a book that takes ages to get used too, you can get into it on the first chapter; sentence; word and I think you should have a go at reading it - it's really COOL!!!!!!!!! My favourite line is: 'coma it sounds like comma, I really do hope it is a comma and not a full stop...'

My rating: 9/10 - fantastic!

Lillie reviews The Diary of Anne Frank...

A page from Anne's actual diary!

Anne Frank is a book where you learn about the complicated life of world war two. Anne Frank's food diary: for breakfast this week, beans, for lunch this week, beans, for tea this week ,beans.

I give this book an 8/10 because it takes a long time to get into it (also a long time to finish it).To be fair it's a really, really good book and I think you should read it. Though it probably hasn't got the nicest ending in the world. It proves that you could live without video games and without going outside but living in life threatening conditions. Are you brave enough to read this book?(through utterly sad things but a ton of happiness in some places)? If you are, start reading it right now!

Wonder - by Ella

Wonder
Wonder. Wonder is a book that tells you a message. This message is: to be yourself, it's your personalty that counts, not the way you look! I love this book because it stick's in your head for a long time. The book has lots of different views on things however there are some mean people and some nice, kind people. I liked it loads I think you will to! I recommend this book to every one.

Have you ever forgotten show and tell? Or wondered how to stay up pass your bed time? Well this is the book for you. And it has 17 amazing chapters like school, food and Xmas. It also tells you how to get out of fights(cool!). All together I will give this book a 5 out of 5. I like it a much as Harry Potter. This book was my mum's and she bought it for ten pounds. Samantha's Famous Five book review...

The famous five are four children and a dog. The four children are called: Anne, Dick, Julian, and Georgina (but every one haze to call her George or she won't answer because she really wants to de a boy, even her teachers call her George). George's dog is called Timothy but Tim for short. Anne is the youngest, then George and Dick and the oldest is Julian.

The author of Famous Five is called Enid Blyton and has been writing books for years. The Famous Five have many adventures and have many books to collect.

Ceri's update on Far Rockaway...

Well I haven't read much of Far Rockaway but from what I have read so far I am really enjoying it.

The main person is named Cat - she is fighting for her life between two worlds: a midtown Manhattan hospital, and a strange landscape full of heroes and villains. She doesn't know how she is going to survive.

The best chapter that I have read so far is chapter one: Merry Christmas.

I wish more books could be like this. If I were to vote this book out of five stars I would vote it five stars.

Jack W reviews Cool by Michael Morpurgo...

'Cool' is a mix between drama and comedy. It's about little boy named Robbie. He's a funny character who has a lovely pet dog, that goes by the name of Lucky. His mum asked him to go and walk the dog, but Lucky didn't have a lead on so he ran off into the garden and the gate was open. Lucky ran into the road and Robbie ran after him. There was a car coming and they both got ran over. Luckily Robbie survived and he's In a coma.
But you will have to read the book to find out if Lucky is a actually lucky.
Enjoy,
Jack W :-)

Beth's review of Harry Potter & the Philosopher's Stone!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone -
Harry Potter and the Philosopher stone is the first of many entertaining, descriptive collection of books written by J.K Rowling: an amazingly talented writer. It is a story of many emotions and is really enjoyable to read. If you have watched the film well this book is even better with added scenes and different reactions and places and even more interesting characters. It really is just brilliant you do not want to miss a chance of reading this book! It uses great description and lots of creative, new words.
This is definitely a book I would recommend!

It has a load of funny jokes that are so funny that instead of just a little snigger you laugh out loud at every joke! It has really interesting, yet totally different characters if you like reading David Walliams books, then you definitely would want to read this book. It also includes funny illustrations! My Bone Quill Update

I have been reading Bone Quill and so far I can't wait to read it all. I may have only read a small bit but I know the Malcolm (Matt and Em's dad) is evil and he has been bound to a painting (read to find out what that means) because he tried to get into Hollow Earth. The worse thing is he made the children go into a painting to get a key when they were all three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edith Frank's Diary - by Lillie:

What Anne Frank's real diary looked like!

Lillie has been reading The Diary of Anne Frank and has used it to write this wonderful series of diary entries from the point of view of Edith Frank, Anne's mother:

The Diary of Edith:

May 10th 1940:
Dear diary,
I’ve been writing my diary for a while now.  But now my life is turning upside down.  I woke to a dreadful sound, it was a frightening thunderous noise, I looked out the window to see hundreds of aeroplanes flying past my house. To be exact Luftwaffe bombers. I turned on the radio and the news was everywhere, Rotterdam had been attacked; this is a complete surprise!  The Nazis had invaded the Netherlands.  It’s been seven years since we fled Germany, I know I’ve told you hundreds of times that I am a Jew but when I look out the window I still remember helpless Jews being beaten by the Nazis.  I am very worried for me and my family that the Nazis are coming to Amsterdam to beat me, Otto and our daughters Margot and Anne.

May 11th 1940:
Dear diary,
We’ve all been glued to our radio, the news is getting worse our navy and air  force are slowly being defeated and the Nazis are advancing.  Paratroopers took an airfield and a bridge.  If you are wondering why I am so worried about the bridge, it is that the tanks can now come over from Germany.  We are all praying for this terrible war to be over soon.

May 14th 1940:
Dear diary,
Thirty thousand people have been killed in Rotterdam when bombers smashed the city, we could be next! The government in Utrecht is saying they surrender; it seems the war is over, but how terrible, we have lost to the nasty Nazis.

May 16th 1940:
Dear diary,
The Nazis enter Amsterdam.  Our neighbour Jacob said some people were cheering when they entered the city in their tanks, but then they are not Jews and have not fled them before like us.  Otto is very scared and has been making a secret annex on the top floor for us to hide in at his work, I think we will flee there soon.

June 10th 1942:
Dear diary,
Oh I’m so sorry that I’ve stranded you for a whole two years. My worries are going backwards and forwards, I’m not sure if I should be happy for my daughter, Anne, because her birthday is in two days, or be worried because Margot might be going to Germany to work in a factory.  I hope Anne likes the Diary I got her.  I wonder, I know it may sound weird, but I’ve got this feeling that my brave daughter Anne Frank’s diary may be famous, I just hope we all survive this terrible war...

Dylan's reading update!

A book report for The Hobbit:

I have only read A small part of The Hobbit, but I really like it: it is very descriptive, very interesting.

My favourite part so far is when they find two giants and Bilbo gets caught, but the giants were arguing, they got so mad one of them made the other turn into stone and when he went to sleep Bilbo and Gandalf, the dwarves, go into the hut and steal swords, ale (what they called beer) and food.

That's where I'm at the moment, I'm really enjoying it.

Why Jade likes Dork diaries:

Why Jade likes Dork Diaries:
I like Dork Days because it describes the characters feelings and how it was in a diary style so it was like she was talking to someone and making the characters do things, that would be impossible to do ,and making them seem slightly easy.

Why I chose Hollow Earth - by Cayla:

Why I chose Hollow Earth:
I chose Hollow Earth because the first page of the book drew me in and its very mysterious and it makes you feel like you are there in the action.I think Hollow Earth is a ideal story for year 5/6 they will love the imagination. The best line in the first page is :The old monk yawned , his chin dropped on his chest, and his eyes fluttered shut.

Why I chose Wonder - by Ella:

Why I chose Wonder:
I chose Wonder because it has a very catchy first page. It hooks the reader in.The best line in the first page is -whatever your thinking it's probably worse. This line is very catchy and tells us about himself. The thing about this line is the way this person is expressing himself. This book looks really good for year 5/6 !
